My name is Paula Malaver, and currently, I'm in the ninth semester of the Medicine program. Since my third semester, I've had the fortune of receiving a scholarship granted by the OCMAES Foundation.
The beginning of this valuable aid was due to a critical moment in my life. My mother has always been my main support, but during that period, she experienced a nervous breakdown that caused her to lose consciousness. Although her recovery was relatively quick, this situation forced her to leave two of her three jobs, putting my ability to finance my studies at risk.
At that time, my mother worked as a taxi driver, in a restaurant, and as a helper in private homes. However, due to the aftermath of her breakdown and the impact of the pandemic, she can currently only maintain her job in the restaurant. Despite the difficulties, I have been able to continue my studies, thanks to the support of generous people like you, who have encouraged me to appreciate the beauty of life.
These people have given me the opportunity to experience privileged moments, such as witnessing the first cry of a baby, enjoying laughter after overcoming an illness, or shedding a tear upon receiving a diagnosis. These moments connect us with our emotions and, therefore, allow us to live fully.
I want to express my profound gratitude to all those who have supported me on this journey and who have made it possible for me to live intensely. For all of this, I thank you.
