My name is Catalina Benavides, I'm from Bogotá, Colombia. I live with my family, my mom Isabel, my dad Enrique, and my dog Sasha. I am a student at Universidad de la Sabana, currently in the 9th semester of the medicine program. I love my career because I feel that through this profession, I can have a great impact on people's lives, and not only that, but I can also contribute to my country by helping to reduce inequality gaps through healthcare.
I came to know about the OCMAES Foundation when the university nominated me for the scholarship, and it has been of great help to me. After the pandemic, I had to consider giving up my biggest dream due to lack of financial resources. However, the OCMAES Foundation welcomed me and provided me with financial and emotional support. It opened the doors to a new family that is unconditionally there for me and has taught me that the most important thing is to support others and contribute to the future of our country. Today, the foundation has given me a second chance to fulfill my biggest dream, to become a professional. Therefore, every day I seek to reflect those valuable values that they instill in us day by day.
